OPEN SOURCE. REVIEWED BY THE COMMUNITY.
Good questions.
Clearer answers.
Your language.
An AI assistant a community can make its own: it speaks the community's language, answers from knowledge the community's reviewers approved, and can run on the community's own machine. Starting with Bitcoin education in Kibera and Nairobi.
No account needed. Just curiosity. AI can be wrong. Not financial advice.
Kiswahili.
English.
Three languages.
One place to learn.
Your language.
Ask in Sheng, Kiswahili or English, in the words you know. If an answer sounds wrong for your community, suggest a better way to say it.
Reviewed knowledge.
Answers come from knowledge your community's reviewers approved. If a question isn't covered, the assistant says so.
Your choice.
The app shows where the AI runs and how long chats are kept. Delete your chats whenever you like.
A CONVERSATION, NOT A LECTURE
A good place to start.
Sample conversationBitcoin is an open digital money system. People can send value to each other through a network of computers.
From community-reviewed knowledge
This sample is copied from Afribit's Bitcoin Basics manual. Live replies are generated by AI using approved knowledge and can be wrong.
Smarter communities. Brighter futures.
01 / HOW IT WORKS
A question is a good beginning.
We believe education comes first. Our first focus is Bitcoin: a place to ask, learn and ask again in the language you speak.
- 01
Ask in your words.
Choose a language and how much detail you want. You can change either at any time. No account needed.
- 02
Get an answer from reviewed knowledge.
The assistant finds the knowledge your community's reviewers approved and answers from it in your language. It never asks for your seed phrase, PIN or password.
- 03
Know where it goes.
On this public service, questions are answered by an outside AI service that promises not to keep them, and chats are deleted from our server after 30 days. You can delete them sooner. The AI can make mistakes.
02 / BUILT ON ACCOUNTABILITY
Trust starts with being clear.
People decide what it learns.
Nothing changes from a single chat. Members suggest better wording; it is used only after reviewers approve it. The AI does not learn from your conversations.
Your secrets have no place in chat.
Afribit AI never asks for a seed phrase, private key, PIN or password. Messages containing one are refused.
You choose what is kept.
Each assistant says where its AI runs and how long it keeps chats. Delete one chat or all of them at any time. If an answer is wrong or unsafe, report it so people can review it.
The code is open.
Anyone can inspect and contribute to the code. Code is Apache-2.0; educational content is CC BY-SA 4.0.
ONE RULE TO REMEMBER
Your seed phrase is yours. Keep it that way.
Nobody legitimate will ever ask for your seed phrase. Never type it into this chat. If someone asks for it, pause and ask for help.
Someone asked for my seed phrase03 / THE COMMUNITY COMES FIRST
Your community. Your own AI.
Afribit AI is open-source software plus a community pack: your languages, your voice and your reviewed knowledge in one folder. The work is reviewing with your own people, not writing code.
04 / YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
A few things to know.
Can any community set up Afribit AI?
Yes. The code is open for any community to set up its own instance. Each instance has its own database and memory of reviewed knowledge, shaped by local language and priorities. A community node can host the AI locally on hardware the community manages.
Is Afribit AI only for Bitcoin education?
Education is our starting point because understanding comes first. Today’s public demo focuses on Bitcoin. The open-source engine lets communities build around their own reviewed knowledge.
Where does the AI run?
It depends on how each assistant is set up, and the app tells you at the top of the chat: on your community's own machine, with an outside AI service (like this public service), or, with Afribit Local, on Afribit's server in Kenya.
Is the public service private?
Questions go to an outside AI service that promises not to keep or train on them. They still leave your community. Chats are deleted from our server after 30 days, and you can delete them sooner from the app. Please do not type personal details you do not need to share.
Is it free?
Yes, for learners: no payment and no account. Your mobile data charges still apply. A community can run its own node for free on its own machine. Afribit Local will be a monthly service paid by the community, never a charge per question.
Will it answer anything, like other AI chats?
Not yet. It answers from your community's approved knowledge and says when a question isn't covered. A clearly labelled "Ask anything" mode, off by default, is planned for communities that want it.
Can the AI be wrong?
Yes. It uses community-reviewed knowledge, but an AI-generated answer can still be wrong. You can report a wrong or unsafe answer from the chat.
Who checks the knowledge?
Community reviewers check knowledge and wording before it is used. When a member suggests better wording, a reviewer approves it first, and safety topics need two reviewers. Your conversations do not train the AI.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed to chat or to suggest wording. Accounts are for the trainers and reviewers a community invites.
Does it work without internet?
The public service needs internet for new answers. Once installed, the app shell opens offline and keeps your draft on this device. A community node with its own GPU answers on its local network without internet.
Is this financial advice?
No. Afribit AI is for learning. It does not make financial decisions for you.
